Position Title:            Distribution Center Shipping Order Selector

Primary Objective of the Position:

A distribution center order selector is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate fulfillment of orders for food service, retail, and chain store customers. Order selectors physically select inventory from pick bins, building pallets of product for numerous customers. This process involves a voice picking system. This system directs the selector to locations in the DC where they will scan the UPC, label, and place the case on their pallet. Pallets are to be built in stop order for easier delivery by our transportation drivers. Individuals in this role should be extremely detail oriented and possess basic math skills. As an employee in this position, you need to have strong communication and organizational skills. You must be able to use computer software and be able to meet the physical requirements of the job such as bending, lifting heavy objects, and operating powered industrial trucks. Order selectors will be working in a dry goods, cooler, and freezer environment.

 

Essential Job Functions:

• Picks items from DC pick bins based on quantity requested and stacks them on pallets
• Selects oldest product in the bin first by following FIFO (first in first out)
• Ensures that orders are accurate by going to the correct bin location and scanning the product UPC
• Responsible for palletizing product by stop order while ensuring product integrity and stability of pallet
• Labels all cases properly throughout picking process
• Stages items correctly on the dock
• Verifies product integrity, wraps pallets to ensure all contents are secure for transit
• Follows all food safety and defense procedures including placing product in proper storage location
• Operates power equipment and ensures safety regulations are followed
• Follows all safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of themselves and their coworkers
• Ensure all warehouse sanitation standards are met
• Ensures warehouse goals are met
• Maintains a high level of health and safety standards
• Performs other general warehouse duties as needed

 

Order Selector Skills and Qualifications:

• Previous Experience Working in a Warehouse Preferred
• Experience Working With an RF Scanner/Voice Picking System Preferred
• Previous Experience Operating Power Equipment Preferred
